Take up Rati’s Challenge, and help Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund develop specialist care in Africa for children with retinoblastoma.
On September 29 September 2004, a mother in Botswana, southern Africa, sent out an email requesting advice after her two year old daughter was diagnosed with a recurrence of eye cancer.

The email was picked up by Abby White, a retinoblastoma survivor in the UK, who began searching for assistance.  Although doctors in Canada tried to help Rati, her delayed diagnosis in Africa was too great to overcome, and she died two years later, on August 21st 2006.
More than 96% of children treated with modern therapies now survive retinoblastoma.  However, in Africa, 90% of children will die due to delayed diagnosis and referral, and poor access to timely, appropriate medical care.

Rati’s experience led to the foundation of this charity, and the hope that one day soon, children in developing countries will have a better chance of surviving this highly curable cancer.
Rati
September 29th (Michaelmas Day) is the Feast of St Michael the Archangel, patron saint of angels and sick children.  Rati’s Challenge honours the memory of the little girl who inspired our work.  This special program within our Global Retinoblastoma Strategy focuses on developing sustainable local capacity in retinoblastoma care, to meet the needs of affected families in Africa. and improve outcomes for Africa's youngest cancer patients.

Our Rati's Challenge Michaelmas Appeal aims to raise funds so that we can give hope to children who currently have little chance of surviving retinoblastoma
