Fundraiser's Pack
News releases are the standard way to tell your local media about the event you are planning.  Usually this will be the local newspaper, but you could also send a copy to your local TV news program or radio station.  The news release invites local reporters to cover your event, and briefly explains about the charity you are supporting.

Once you have sent your news release to the news editor of your local newspaper, TV or radio station, make a follow up telephone call a couple of days later, to check that the release has been received, and to ask if any further information is needed, and if the editor plans to cover the event.  Offer to send photographs of the event and, if you are comfortable, make yourself available for an interview.

After the event, consider sending a follow up news release, detailing the success of the event (include a photograph), and the funds raised for Daisy’s Eye Cancer Fund.
